My Years of Riding

George

I have been a rider all of my life. My Mum and Dad bought me my first bike when I was 11. It was a Bombardier 50.

I loved it even though it was a total pig to keep going and it had the worst suspension ever in off road bikes.

My next bike was a Honda Dax. Another shocker of a bike. Totally unsuitable for off road riding and I broke it more than I rode it.

Then my luck changed!! I was riding at the vacant land across the road from my house when Geoff Taylor saw me riding the wheels off my Dax and stopped to say hello. He offered me a ride on the new Honda CR125. It blew my mind, it was quick and incredible over the rough tracks. I was hooked.

Since then I have had a mixture of KTM's, Husky's and a couple of Suzuki's. My favourite bike though was a 2015 KTM 500 EXC 6 Days. What a bike, awesome power and incredible off road machine.

I had lots of adventure on my KTM - Sunset Desert, Gembrooke State Forest, Victorian High Country and I even rode on Fraser Island. Beast of a bike.

Unfortunately in February 2018 while on a ride in Gembrooke State Forest I went over a washout too fast and landed on my left leg. Resulting in numerous fractures.

It appears at this stage in my life nearing 55, it's time to look for another hobby! But you just never know. Shhh don't tell my wife!!

My absolute favourite road bike would have to be my Suzuki RGV500 Gamma. 500cc 2 stroke V4. I loved every last minute I spent on it.

If I keep going on this post I will end up talking myself into getting another bike!!
